Donna Lachele Dukes

September 21, 1981 — July 4, 2014

On July 4, 2014, Donna Lachele Dukes, 32, went home to be with the Lord. A memorial service to celebrate Donna's life will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 2 PM at First Baptist Church of Sulphur with Reverend Lindsey Burns and Dr. David Holder officiating. The family will receive friends at 1 PM. Donna was a beautiful soul whom everyone loved. Donna was born on September 21, 1981 in Baton Rouge, LA. Donna lived in Denham Springs, LA until she was three then moved to Jennings, LA. In 1995, Donna and her family moved to Sulphur, LA where she attended church at First Baptist Church of Sulphur and was a 1999 graduate of Sulphur High School. Donna attended the Louisiana Institute of Massage Therapy School and graduated in 1999. Moving back to Baton Rouge, she then furthered her education at Aveda School in Covington, LA to be an esthetician. She began her career at Paris Parker Salon until starting her own business, Pelle Bella. Donna was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2004 but continued to work until she had to return to Sulphur in mid 2009 due to her illness where her family lovingly took care of her until God called her home. Donna was dearly loved by her family, friends, and her beloved cocker spaniel, Sophie Grace. Donna was very much concerned about the research being done for Multiple Sclerosis and because of that she had made preparations to donate her brain, spinal cord and optic nerves to the Rocky Mountain MS Center in hopes to help other people. She is survived by her parents, Donald and Cindi Dukes of Sulphur; brother, David L. Dukes of Sulphur; one nephew, Gavin T. Bertrand; her church family at First Baptist Church of Sulphur; and a host of family, friends and neighbors. Special thanks are given to the myriad of doctors who attended to our daughter with loving care. Special thanks to all of the loving friends and neighbors who helped all the time including WCCH Home Health, Dr. Brian and Mrs. Gamborg and office staff, WCCH staff, CVS pharmacy, Amedysis Hospice, Acadian Ambulance, First Baptist Church of Sulphur members, Sulphur Police, Calcasieu Parish Sheriffs Dept. and all of the people praying for Donna during this time. Her family could not have made it without God whom all things are possible.
