            Doris Marie McLendon Cooper, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 4, 2018, one day shy of her 82nd birthday.

            Born at home on Sunday, January 5,1936 in Vidor, Texas, she was the third of eight children, and was proud to have helped raise her younger siblings. In younger years, she owned and operated Doris’ Beauty Den in Sulphur. She later became an auxiliary Sheriff’s Deputy and worked the local fairs alongside of her beloved husband of 42 years, James Charlie Cooper, who preceded her in death. Hobbies included genealogy, sewing, remodeling, and deer hunting. She was a natural caretaker who devoted herself to her parents in their senior years.

            Doris was also preceded in death by her parents, Tom L. and Selina Daigle McLendon; sons Jerry Lee and Robert Ray Thompson; one grandson, Kevin James Cascio; three brothers, Eugene William McLendon and twins Dolton & Dalton McLendon; two sisters, Alice McLendon Russell and Gertrude McLendon Stains Peveto.

            Survivors include her daughter, Selina Cooper Cascio and husband, Carl Cascio; granddaughter Kimberly Marie Cascio of Lake Charles; grandson, Casey Jonathan Cascio of Norman, Oklahoma; twin brothers Arvle McLendon and Ervin McLendon of Sulphur; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 1 PM. The Rev. Ronnie Estes will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 11 AM until 1 PM.
