Doris "Dot" Dewoody

February 13, 1924 — October 21, 2018

Doris “Dot” Savoie DeWoody, 94, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018.  Dot moved from Vidor, Texas to Lake Charles in 1938.  She lived in Lake Charles until moving to Sulphur in 1969.  Dot was a graduate of St. Charles Academy in Lake Charles.

Dot is survived by her two daughters, Madelyn Freundlich and husband, Fred and Janel Fontenot; her son, Gregg DeWoody and wife, Elizabeth; daughter in law, Dru Roberts and husband, Gary; sister in law, Jean Jaubert; six grandchildren, Laural Leigh Fontenot, Joe Fontenot and wife, Hailey, Sarah Melancon and husband, Matt, Brian DeWoody and wife, Taylor, Caleb DeWoody and wife, Nicole and Jared DeWoody; six great grandchildren, Cecilia, Jean-Luc and Dominic Fontenot, Annie Mae and Norah Kate Melancon and Maddox DeWoody; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar DeWoody; her son, Steve DeWoody; her parents, Rivers and Edna Savoie; two brothers, Joe Savoie Jaubert and Frank Savoie Greene and wife, Gennie; and special aunt, Euphemie Bertrand.

Visitation for Dot will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 4-8 PM at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home in Sulphur.  Funeral Services for Dot will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 10 AM at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50 Memphis, TN 38101 or the charity of your choice.
