Doris Rita Mae Porche, 80, of Lake Charles, LA died at 7:17 AM on Saturday, June 21, 2014 in her residence. Mrs. Porche was born on August 13, 1933 in Lafourche Parish and moved from Bayou Blue, LA as a child to the New Orleans/Harahan area. Her hometown for most of her life was Harahan, LA. Throughout her life she also lived in Venezuela, Kansas, Texas, Mississippi, and California. She moved to Lake Charles, LA on April 13, 2014 with her daughter, Maria and son-in-law Paul, with whom she had lived most of her adult life. Her first language was Cajun French but she primarily spoke English. Mrs. Porche was primarily a homemaker, dedicating her life to her children and grandchildren. She was a born again Christian. Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Maria Elena Romer McNeely married to Paul D. McNeely, M.D. of Lake Charles, LA; two sons, Michael Anthony Romer married to Gina Maria Cannella Romer of The Woodlands, TX and Oscar Henry Romer of Florida; a brother, Earle Porche married to Joey N. Porche; and four grandchildren, Brittney L. McNeely-Burckel, Wes J. Romer, Sophia M. Romer, and William (Bill) A. Dixon-Romer. She was preceded in death by her father, Madio Antoine Porche; her mother, Lillian Marie Eschete Porche; and a sister, Marie Porche. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, LA.
