Doris Spillers Bradshaw joined her husband of 53 years, Earl Bradshaw, Sr., and beloved brothers and sister, Carlos, James and Dorothy Spillers in Heaven on Tuesday, March 20, 2012.
She had adopted and loved Westlake as her home twenty-three years ago after moving from Monroe, Louisiana, where she owned her restaurant and real estate properties and Bradshaw's Body Shop. Mrs. Bradshaw prided herself in being a self-made, fiercely independent person until her health began to fail. Her strength, determination and will-power amazed everyone over the years to the point that she was called by those who so loved her their "Energizer Bunny" and "Timex" watch."
She is survived by her daughter Dorothy Conner and husband Thomas of Westlake; her son, Earl Bradshaw, Jr. and wife D'Nita of Moss Bluff; her extended family of twelve grandchildren, Jacqui Elliott (Jason), Bridget Conner, Brandi Felice (Eric), Trisha Mier (Chris), Heather Fontenot, Michael Conner, Maggie Bradshaw, Dusty and Derek Hasha, Earl Bradshaw III (Jennifer), Nick Bradshaw ( Renata), Krystal Pickett (Clay), Robert and Cynthia Gammel; sixteen great grandchildren; and nieces Patricia Poupart, Annette Mashburn, Jennifer Caston and Carla Kroger, nephew Jimmy Spillers.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM. on Friday, March 23, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Willie Bellard will officiate. Visitation will be on Thursday at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Memorial Park in Monroe, Louisiana. Pallbearers are her great grandsons and grandsons, Branson and Caleb Coberly, Earl Bradshaw III, Nick Bradshaw, Dusty and Derek Hasha.
The family would like to thank Libby and Gerald of McDonald's in Westlake for their welcoming smiles and special treats; Harbour Hospice; and Kathy Gallagher and Quintella Lewis, her caregivers. After time had taken its toll on Mrs. Bradshaw, she anxiously looked forward to sitting on the front porch of her home every morning and hearing the passersby "toot"" their horns as they drove past. She recognized every car that passed and honked.
