Doris Walker Bettis

February 20, 1929 — March 6, 2016

Doris Walker Bettis, 87, of Lake Charles, died on Sunday March 6, 2016 at a local hospice surrounded by her family.

Doris was born in Welsh to Ivy and Eufia Goodwin Walker. She was a retired nurse’s aide from Moss Regional Hospital and a member of Lake City Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Ferris Bettis; a son, Jimmie Bettis; great granddaughter, Jasmine Bettis; sisters, Dorothy Miller and Christine Stone; brother, Sonny Walker. She is survived by three children, Walter Bettis and wife Carol of Moss Bluff, Sharon Miller, Moss Bluff and Cathy Broussard and husband Bobby, Lake Charles; 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesday, March 8, 2016 and will continue on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday March 9, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Estes officiating. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Broussard, Cameron Broussard, Robbie Broussard, Tristan Broussard, Gabe Broussard and Joey Berken. Honorary pallbearers will be Gavin Broussard, Nicholas Hammond and Ethan Broussard.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurse and staff of Harbor Hospice for the compassionate and loving care shown to our mother and to us in her final days.
