Dorothy Ann "Dot" Fontenot Hinman, 80, of Houston passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015 in a Houston hospital. Mrs. Hinman was born and raised in Elton, LA and lived over thirty years in both Houston and Lake Charles. She worked as a cashier at Weingarten Grocery for twenty years where she made countless friends who looked forward to their visits and waited in line to see her to share their stories. Her move to Houston surrounded her with one of her favorite things; children, as she was a cashier and assistant for school pictures with Provine Photography. Most recently Mrs. Hinman was the President Resident Activities Director for Memorial City Health and Rehab. She took great pride in bringing a life of joy to her new home and friends as the coordinator of Bingo games and monthly celebration parties. During her younger years, Mrs. Hinman enjoyed bowling on a tournament team. She was always an avid sports fan, particularly, McNeese football, Texans football and Astros baseball. She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. Mrs. Hinman will be most remembered for her love of her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and for her positive, joyful spirit. She loved life. She leaves to cherish her memory, four children; Carla Hinman of Houston, TX, Jan Price and husband George of New Mexico, Leland Hinman and wife Wendy of Westlake and John Hinman and wife Janise of Dallas; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She also leaves her family in Louisiana and California who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of twenty seven years, Carl D. Hinman; son, Thomas Joseph Hinman and her parents, Evans and Odelia Bourque Fontenot. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Sunday, May 03, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Anthony Pousson will officiate. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery in Elton. Visitation Saturday will be from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Sunday will be from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
