Dorothy Bernard

August 6, 1933 — February 1, 2021

A resident of Lake Charles LA, Dorothy Dorion Bernard made her transition into eternal rest at 1:23 on the morning of February 1st, 2021. She was born to the union of Alfred Dorion, Sr. and Vercy Broussard Dorion on August 6th, 1933.

Dorothy lived in the Mossville Community for many years. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Anyone who knew “Dot”, “Aunt Dot”, “Mother Bernard”, “Maw-Maw” and of course “Sweet” knew her to have a beautiful soul that lived and loved with a Godly presence. Her kitchen was always open to her tasty homemade bread that filled the air as far as Mossville Swimming Pool. She was a faithful servant to our Lord, and a Prayer Warrior for anyone in need.  If you knew her you loved her.

Dorothy left to cherish her memory a devoted husband of 69 years, John Bernard and their children Mary Katie (Ricky) LeDee, Charlotte Bernard, Gwendolyn (Claude) Champagne, Sandra (Kelvin) Lartigue, Thierery Bernard (Tracy Ryan), Connie (Tim) Mouton, Frederick (Charletta) Bernard, Jason (Cassandra) Bernard, Deadria Bernard, 31 grandchildren and 60 great grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her sisters Theresa Mae Guidry, Leona Andres, Leola Rochon, Velma Ozenne, Rubell Rochon, Rudell (Leland) Landry, Pearl Mouton and brother, Alfred (Romona) Dorion, Jr. and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Rhena Bernard, Savannah Leblanc, Viola Hebert and her brother Russell Dorion. She was also preceded in death by grandchildren Darius Keith Thibodeaux and Celeste LeDee, and great grandchild Dalasia Damaria Johnson.

Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday, February 5, 2021 at 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. with the Holy Rosary recited at 11 a.m. Her funeral service will be held at St. Theodore Catholic Church of Moss Bluff, LA on Friday at 1 p.m. under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff.  Father Andy Derouen will officiate.  Burial will take place in Perkins Cemetery in Westlake, LA following the service.
