Dorothy Nadine Cloud Cooke, 86, of Lake Charles, LA, was born on March 15, 1927 in Elizabeth, LA and died at 8:15 PM on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 in a local hospital. Mrs. Cooke has lived in Lake Charles, LA for the past sixty-eight years. She was a graduate of Oberlin High School. She worked as a bookkeeper and secretary at various locations, retiring from National Supply. She was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God since 1961, where she was a member of the Young at Heart Group and loved attending the Lady's Prayer Group on Thursday mornings. Mrs. Cooke was very creative and enjoyed sewing and gardening. She also enjoyed cooking and loved to spend holidays with her family. She was loved and will be missed dearly. Mrs. Cooke is survived by her sons, Robert Dwain Cooke and wife Barbara of Sharpsburg, GA and Malcolm Craig Cooke and wife Teresa of Hecker, LA; daughter, Rita Cooke Powell and husband Daniel of Lake Charles; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Lawrence Cooke; parents, Joseph Cloud and Maude Dyer Sonnier; and sister, Mabeline "Bea" DeBarge. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 12, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverends Ray Hundley and Gary Evers will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Sunday from 12:00 PM until the start of the service. The family would like to express a special word of thanks to her caregivers, Judy Manuel, Betty Theriot, Brenda Iglesias, and Wanda Gonzales for the love and care given to their mother. They would also like to give a special thanks to Dr. Peter Karam for his compassion throughout the years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of one's choice.
