Dorothy “Dot” B. Richard, 89, of Sulphur passed away on June 23, 2016 in her residence surrounded by her family after a brief illness. Dot was born in Earlsboro, OK to Edward and Lela Barber on February 16, 1927. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, and was a member of the Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters. Dot was also an active member of the Red Hat Society and the 12th Night Revelers. She was a past member of the Home Demonstration Club, the Dynamic Dimension Nifty Fifties, and belonged to the Good Sam Camper Club for many years. She had been a leader for the Blue Birds and the Cub Scouts, and previously owned the Mini Rosa Mobile Home Park. Dot was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed arts and crafts and had a great sense of humor! She enjoyed playing cards, pokeno, and her most treasured moment was spending time with her family every chance she could.
Dot is survived by her four daughters, Marcella Graham of Carlyss, Deborah Guillory and husband Ray of Carlyss, Patricia Olson and husband Bob of Sulphur, and Blanche Richard of Westlake; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and one on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sibley J. Richard; her son, Mitchell “Tiger” Richard; one great grandson; her parents, 3 sisters; and 3 brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 27, 2016 at 11 A.M. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss with Father Joe Aquino officiating. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 4-9 P.M. with a rosary at 6 P.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Following the rosary, entertainment will be provided by the 12th Night Revelers. Visitation will continue on Monday, June 27, 2016 from 8 A.M. until time of leaving for the church.Visits: 1
