Dorothy (Dottie) Bonds Miller, 93, died at 8:43 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2018 in a local care facility.
She was born June 26, 1925 in Itawamba County, MS to William Marshall Bonds and Violet Swaim Bonds. She moved with her parents at an early age to Double Springs, AL. Her mother died when she was a child and Dottie then moved to Memphis, TN to live with her aunt and uncle, Helen and Fred Mivelaz.
She graduated from St. Agnes Academy in Memphis, studied at the Memphis School of Art and attended the University of Mississippi. She eventually moved to Houston, TX and began working in the drafting department at Transco. She later managed the antique shop in the Galleria.
On December 1, 1972 she married Dr. Max M. Miller and moved to Lake Charles, LA. They were married for 32 years until his death in 2004. She was devoted to her husband and her family.
She is survived by her step-children Marilyn Miller Grissett and husband David of Enid, OK, Dr. Michael Miller and wife Nancy of Knoxville, TN, Margery Miller Standerfer and husband Butch of Kingwood, TX, Dr. Martin Miller and wife Kathy and Dr. Mark Miller of Lake Charles; 12 step-grandchildren, Bill Fournet and wife Christy, Todd Grissett, Allison Wilcox and husband Jeff, Matt Miller and wife Lindsay, Dr. Drew Miller and wife Laura, Todd Miller, John Standerfer and wife Julie, Mark Standerfer, Dr. Lee Miller and wife Amy, Dr. Patty Miller and husband Javier Castaneda, Alyce Miller and Max Miller; 17 step-great-grandchildren; and cousins, Bill McRae, Carmen Putnam, Millie Minton, Howard Bonds, Helen McVay, Martha Adams, Eddie Bonds, and Faye Cannon.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; her sister Marsha Bonds McKinney and brother-in-law John McKinney and numerous aunts and uncles.
A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
