Dorothy Amy Grady Porche, 95, of Lake Charles, LA passed away at 12:55 PM on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 in a local hospital, surrounded by her family.


She was born in Batchelor, Louisiana, on December 28, 1915, to Arthur Joseph and Graziella Hortense Melancon Grady, and in her family had three brothers and three sisters. She lived in Lake Charles since 1941. She enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her family. She also took pride in being a private duty sitter for families in need. She enjoyed her plants and sharing good times with friends over a cup of coffee; neighbors always seemed to gravitate to her home. Mrs. Porche also loved traveling with her daughters to Colorado and cooking for her family and friends. Her gumbos and gravies were the best! Mrs. Porche was a woman of strength and character and had an indomitable spirit. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.


Mrs. Porche is survived by two daughters, Nadine Kebodeaux and husband Marvin Kebodeaux of Nederland, Texas, and Cheryl Lynn Porche of Lake Charles; one son, Francis Victor Porche, Jr. and wife Carrie Porter Porche of Kinder; one sister, Doris Fontenot of Moss Bluff; one granddaughter, Vicki Porche-Durden and husband Dennis Durden of Pumpkin Center; and seven grandsons Brandon Porche and wife Amy of Lacassine, Mike Hayes and wife Pam of Lake Charles, Mark Hayes of Lake Charles, Keith Kebodeaux of Beaumont, TX, Craig Kebodeaux and wife Gayle of Olathe, KS, Chris Kebodeaux and wife LaNell of Nederland, TX, and Kirk Kebodeaux and wife Kelly of Malakoff, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews in the area. She was the proud great-grandmother of fifteen great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years, Francis Victor Porche, Sr. who passed away October 13, 1978; and one daughter, Marie Ann Hayes who passed away May 2, 2005. Her three brothers and two of her sisters preceded her in death.


Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Nathan Long will officiate. Burial will follow at Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary at 6:00 PM and continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM.


Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Keith Kebodeaux, Craig Kebodeaux, Chris Kebodeaux, Kirk Kebodeaux, Mike Hayes, Mark Hayes, Brandon Porche, and Dennis Durden, husband of her granddaughter, Vicki. Honorary pallbearers will be Chase Durden and Casey Durden.
