Dorothy Helen Ogea

July 16, 1931 — December 26, 2015

Dorothy Helen Kennedy Ogea, a longtime resident of the Choupique area, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015 peacefully in the comfort of her own home.

Dorothy was born in Ladonia, Texas to Clarence and Pearl Kennedy. She moved to Sulphur, Louisiana at the age of sixteen where she and her husband were married one year later. They were active members of the VFW Post 8107 and the American Legion Post 108 where she also served in the Ladies’ Auxiliary for many years.

Dorothy enjoyed doing embroidery and quilting and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of sixty-six years, Julius Ogea of Choupique, LA; her six children, Jerry (Carol) Ogea of Whitehouse, TX, Donald (Cheryl) Ogea of Thornwell, LA, Carol (Stanley) Chaisson of Sulphur, LA, Glenn (Irma) Ogea of Choupique, Mark (Cheryl) Ogea of Carlyss, LA and Nancy (Sam) Roy of Oden, Ar.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Maxine Martin of Ashdown, AR; and a host of other loving nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Pearl Kennedy; her brother, Bobby Kennedy; and her sister, Bessie Prince.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 1 P.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Reggie Ogea, New Orleans Baptist Seminary officiating. Burial will be in Thornwell Cemetery at 3 P.M. in Thornwell, LA under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 4-8 P.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home with visitation continuing on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until time of the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wound Care Center at West Cal-Cam Hospital.
