Dorothy Jackson Anderson 48, of DeRidder, LA passed away Saturday, March 23, 2018 at Beauregard Memorial Hospital.
The daughter of a career Army man, Ms. Anderson had seen many places. She was born at Fort Meade, MD and raised primarily in Lafayette, LA and Anchorage, AK. She lived many years in Moss Bluff, recently moving to DeRidder. She was a graduate of St. Clair High School in Michigan and attended McNeese State University and Black Hawk College in Illinois. She worked as a supervisor for the Transportation Security Administration at the Lake Charles Regional Airport, where she had recently received her 15 year recognition. She was a member of W.B. Williamson American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1 of Lake Charles, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Order of Colonial Dames. She enjoyed swimming, reading, shopping, and her pets. Ms. Anderson will be most remembered for her positive influence on others and her love and devotion to her children. She took time to listen and find a positive side to any and every story.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, John Bradbury Anderson and financé, Amberly Kroger of Sulphur, Calvin Evans Anderson and James Colden Anderson, both of Moss Bluff; one daughter, Sarah Elaina Anderson of DeRidder; her father, Col. (R), James Alton “Jim” Jackson of Moss Bluff; mother, Constance Fair Hardin Jackson of Moss Bluff and one nephew, Sean Edward Jackson and his family of Ovid, MI.
She was preceded in death by her brother, James Edward Jackson; paternal grandparents, Alton and Lula Mae Jackson and maternal grandparents, Joseph and Constance Bass, all of Lake Charles.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 31, 2018 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a celebration of her life at 11:00 AM. The Reverend Roger Pete will officiate. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Kentwood, LA.
