Dorothy Laborde Scroggs

Dorothy Laborde Scroggs, 87, of Baton Rouge passed away Sunday, October 30, 2011 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Scroggs was born, raised and lived most of her life in Marksville, LA. She also lived many years in Shreveport, LA. She has lived the past fourteen years in Williamsburg Retirement Community in Baton Rouge. She worked eighteen years as a secretary for the Federal Government at the Veteran's Administration Hospital. Mrs. Scroggs enjoyed cooking, sewing and playing cards. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Marilyn Cloutier and husband Alex of Navarre, FL; two sons, Gary Scroggs and wife Deannie of Lake Charles and Phil Scroggs and wife Margaret of Ethel, LA; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Guttenberg, Lt. Col. Lex Cloutier, USAF, Dr. Matt Scroggs, Elizabeth Scroggs, Judith Scroggs, Evan Scroggs, Elliott Scroggs and Meredith Cooper and six great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-five years, Kirby G. Scroggs and one sister, Birdie Mae Hudson.

A mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, November 3, 2011 in Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Ronald Groth will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2:30 PM Thursday, November 3, 2011 in Oak Grove Cemetery in Effie, LA. Deacon George Carr will officiate.
