Dorothy Louise Hood, 89, of Lake Charles died at 12:55 PM on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 in a local care facility. Mrs. Hood was born in Forest Hill on May 1, 1924 and was raised in Oakdale. She lived most of her life in Westlake. Mrs. Hood worked as a waitress for Lake View for 20 years. She was a faithful member of Gateway Church of God where she belonged to the Senior's Group of Gateway. She enjoyed being outside gardening flowers and working in the yard. Mrs. Hood was a regular at the Westlake Community Center where she enjoyed walking and exercising. Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Jerry Henry Hood and wife Martha of Westlake and Randall Brian Hood and wife Connie of Moss Bluff; two daughters, Virginia Oliver of Westlake and Amber Vest and husband Mark of Lake Charles; two sisters, Maurine DeLaney of Monroe and Melba McCoy of Many; a brother, Charles McKaskle of Winfield, LA; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Hood and two grandsons, Michael Vest and Sean Vest. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 5, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Charlie Willis will officiate. Burial will follow in Old Ritchie Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until the start of services.
