Dorothy Mae Casanova

April 21, 1928 — June 15, 2022

Dorothy Mae Casanova, 94, passed away on June 15, 2022, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family.  Dorothy was born to parents, Edgar and Evelyn Corbello on April 21, 1928.  She worked as a nurse for a local doctor’s office.  Dorothy was a member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society and the Legion of Mary.  She was also a member of the Swinging Rebels square dance club and the Bayou Rounders.  Dorothy enjoyed traveling, shopping, and spending time with family.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Chris Fontenot of Sulphur; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Leonard Casanova; her parents; two sons, John Lyons and James Stine; daughter, Mary Clement; brother, James “Bubber” Corbello; and granddaughter, Kimberly Lyons. 

Services for Dorothy will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022, at 2 PM at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic church.  Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home from 5-8 PM with a rosary at 6 PM and on Monday from 12 PM until time to leave for the church.

The family would like to thank Lori, Julie and the entire staff at Amedysis Hospice and Dr. Maureen Lannan for all her years of service.  Also, a special thank you to her daughter Chris and Pete and her little caregiver, Shaylee.
