Dorothy Mae Ferguson

October 24, 1943 — June 13, 2019

Dorothy Mae Skoglund Ferguson, 75, 2019 of Lake Charles died Thursday, June 13, 2019 in the comfort of her home.

Mrs. Ferguson was a native of Oneonta, NY, raised in California and has lived the past forty-eight years in Lake Charles. She served as a secretary in the United States Air Force where she met her husband and continued to serve until shortly after they married. Mrs. Ferguson the took pride in following her husband’s military career of twenty-four years. Once settled in Bossier, she worked as a secretary for City Hall with the City of Bossier. During her younger years, she enjoyed bowling in a league with her team of Air Force wives. Later years, she enjoyed crocheting and cross stitch and more than anything, shopping!  Mrs. Ferguson was “the rock” of her family, always offered words of encouragement, support and love, especially for grandchildren. She will be remembered for her love of the beach and will forever be, a “California girl”.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of fifty-six years, Jimmie R. Ferguson of Lake Charles; daughter, Roxanna Leanna; two sons, Jimmie L. Ferguson and wife Elizabeth and Erik Ferguson and wife Noreen; seven grandchildren, Rachel Ferguson, Rayna Ferguson, Jasen Ferguson, Jared Ferguson, Jenna Leanna, Andrina Ferguson, and Sarah Ferguson; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Lilly Witford and husband Paul and one brother, Greg Skoglund and wife Nancy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard Henrick Skoglund and Kathryn Leach Skoglund and sister, Susan Skoglund.
