Dorothy Mae Broussard Hanks, 75, passed away at 7:00 AM, Monday, October 13, 2014 in a local care facility. Mrs. Hanks was born in Lake Arthur, LA October 23, 1938 to Clinton and Natilia (Michon) Broussard and has lived in the Lake Charles area for over fifty years. She was a longtime, dedicated, and very involved member of St. Henry Catholic Church and recently attended St. Theodore Catholic Church. Mrs. Hanks and her husband where members of the CFMA and together they taught traditional Cajun dancing. She belonged to a quilting team, an avid gardener, whom was proud of her roses and lily's, and also enjoyed traveling. Dorothy was the family caregiver and loved baby sitting her grandchildren. Survivors include her three children, Denise Reynolds, Tommy Hanks and wife Loretta, and Sandra Hanks Kallenbach and husband Gene; ten grandchildren, Marie Moon and husband Matthew, Melanie Gary and husband Brian, Jack Leetel Reynolds and wife Anna, Summer Cook and husband Chris, Justin Kallenbach and wife Lauren, Tabitha Davis and husband Chris, Corey Kallenbach and wife Mehgan, Shelby Yates and husband Donald, Ashley Conner, and Kelli Hanks; and twenty-two great grandchildren. She proceeded in death by her husband, Leetel Hanks, her parents, one brother, Charles Broussard, and son-in-law Raymond Reynolds. Her Funeral Mass will be at 12:00 PM, Thursday, October 16, 2014 at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Reverends John Huckaby and Scott DesOrmeaux will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be, Wednesday, at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM, and continue, Thursday at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service.
