Dorothy Mae Newman Capaldi

Dorothy Dot Newman Capaldi, 87, of Lake Charles, LA passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2013.

She was born in Jennings, LA on May 8, 1925 and lived in Lake Charles most of her life. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.

Mrs. Capaldi was a long-time member and past president of the Lioness Club of Lake Charles, belonged to the Catholic Daughters of American Court 1785, and worked as a volunteer tutor at Regina Caeli School for many years. Her activities while raising her six children included serving as P.T.A. president, Camp Fire leader, room mother, and dance costume seamstress, just to name a few.

She was a dedicated mother, wife, and grandmother, who enjoyed cooking and sewing for her family, reading, and working in the yard. Her beautiful smile, positive spirit, and strong faith in God will live on in our hearts forever.

Mrs. Capaldi is survived by her children, Ron (Patsy) Milford, Buddy (Jocelyn) Milford, Susie Milford (Conrad) Schatzle, Donna Capaldi (Kelly) Barker; sisters, Anna Ross, Bobbie Perron; and many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Capaldi; daughters, Robbie Capaldi Faul and Judy Milford Reilly; sister, Sadie Newman Smith; and her brother, L. J. Newman.

Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 1, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
