Dorothy Mae Stinson Jones

Dorothy "Dot" Mae Stinson Jones, 50, of Moss Bluff passed away peacefully following a lengthy illness on Thursday, February 5, 2015 in a local hospice facility. Dorothy was born on April 12, 1964 in Lake Charles, LA. She lived all of her life in the Lake Charles/Moss Bluff area and was a graduate of LaGrange High School. She furthered her education at McNeese State University graduating in 1985 with a degree in chemistry. Dorothy began her career as a chemist at Oxychem before becoming involved in the environmental engineering department at Equistar, Lyondell, Georgia Gulf, and most recently at Axiall. She was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, drawing, and painting but most of all she enjoyed raising her beautiful children whom she adored. Those left to cherish her memory are a son, Charles "Charlie" Allen Jones and a daughter, Aimee Monet Jones both of Moss Bluff; her father, Walter Stinson of Deridder; two sisters and their husbands, Donna Reed and Darrin of Moss Bluff and Dawn Thibodeaux and Danny of Pearland, TX; and three brothers, Douglas, Drew, and Darin Stinson all of Lake Charles. She also leaves behind her Goddaughter and niece, Kristi Summers Vezinat and nine additional nieces and nephews, Christopher Summers, Amber Summers Crater, Austin, Cameron, and Zachary Thibodeaux, Holly Ardoin, Patrick and Michael Stinson, and Ashley McKracken. She was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, Charles Augustus Jones and her mother, Mary Marjorie Whitman Stinson. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 9, 2015 at St. Theodore Catholic Church. The Rev. Charles McMillin will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin in the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary being held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume in the church on Monday from 9:00 AM until the start of the mass.
