Dorothy Marie (Dot) Pellerin, 82, of Lake Charles passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 in a Lake Charles hospital surrounded by her husband and children.

Dot was born on September 15, 1940 in Church Point where she was raised as a sharecroppers daughter and was a 1959 graduate of Church Point High School.  Following graduation, she met her future dancing partner and love of her life in Lawtell and married in 1960.  After giving birth to two sons, they moved their family to Lake Charles.  In the early 1970’s, she worked as a clerk for Evangeline Maid Bread and later babysat for several children in her home.  She then began her career with CARC working as a bus driver and becoming a supervisor working for Dr. Stroud before retiring in the late 1990’s.  Upon retirement, she was able to spend time camping in Toledo Bend and traveling with her husband, including internationally on pilgrimages.

After living in their family home on Louisiana Ave for 46 years, she and her husband moved into Villa Maria Assisted Living facility.  Following the damage from Hurricane Laura, they moved to Jennings where she resided at Jeff Davis Living Center where she was well cared for.

While raising her family they were members of St. Margaret Catholic Church where she taught catechism.  She later became a charter member of St. Martin de Porres where she was very involved in the Altar Society, Bible Study, Come Lord Jesus, and the Supper Club with dear friends.  Dot also volunteered her time in the office.  She was a member of the Order of St. Charles of the Diocese of Lake Charles.

Dot loved and cherished her children and grandchildren and dotted on them often.  She enjoyed being in their presence and watching them grow.  She also took pleasure in cooking fantastic meals and also teaching others her cooking skills.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, James Pellerin of Lake Charles; sons, Fr. Keith Pellerin of Jennings and Kevin Pellerin (Sissy) of Kinder; brother, Ricky Carriere (Deanna) of Oakdale; granddaughter, Brandi Eaves (Seth) of Kinder; grandson, Brandon Pellerin (Shelby) of Kinder; and great grandchildren, Marissa, Libby, and Allie Eaves, and Brently, Reagan, and Rylee Pellerin.  She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, Godchildren, family, and dear friends and many others she took in as her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vorhies and Elvie Carriere; her four babies that she never met but is dancing in Heaven with them now; sister, Roberta Daigle; brother, Wilson Carriere; nephews, Johnny and Jared Carriere; and her third cousin, Charlene Richard.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Jeff Davis Living Center, Oschner Acadia Hospital in Crowley, Oschner Jennings American Legion Hospital in Jennings, Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, and the Lake Charles Memorial Medical Group, especially Dr. Gerry Hebert, Dr. Gary Kohler, and Dr. Bogavalli, for their exceptional care given to Dot while residing there.  They also wish to extend their thanks to all of those who have reached out to them with condolences and prayers.

A funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 10, 2022 in St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 5495 Elliott Rd., Lake Charles, LA 70605.  Her son, Father Keith Pellerin, will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation will begin on Friday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM followed by a scripture service at Our Lady Help of Christian Catholic Church, 710 N.
