Dorothy Marie Fontenot

We regretfully announce the passing of Dorothy Marie Romero Fontenot, age 82, surrounded by by family in Moss Bluff, La on December 25, 2022.  Dorothy, commonly known as Dot, endured a long battle with Congestive Heart Disease and COPD, but is now at peace with our Lord and Savior.  Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Nedia and Alice Romero and her loving husband of 62 years, Joel James Fontenot, Sr.

Dorothy is survived by her three  children, Joel James, Fontenot. Jr (Punter) and wife Susan, Anthony Fontenot, and wife Rene', Michelle Fontenot Jones, and husband Greg.  Dot is survived by eight grandchildren:  Brandi Fontenot Davis and husband Mickey, Joel James Fontenot III (Trey) and wife Traci, Ty Fontenot, Madison Fontenot Dyer and husband Jay, Abby Fontenot, Jared Jones and wife Blaire, AJ Jones and wife Erin, and Kyle Jones. Dot is also survived by six great grandchildren:  Sue Lynn, William (Thrice), Kennedy, Harper, Lincoln and Ryan.  

Dorothy loved simplicity and enjoyed her property and home in Topsy that she and Joe built together.  She worked as a nurses aide, but was primarily a homemaker, mother and devoted wife. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.  

A Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 2 PM at Johnson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff by Father Guilbeau.  Visitation will be open to the public from 11 AM to 2 PM, with a rosary at 1 PM. Dorothy will be laid to rest in the Old Ritchie Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Johnson Funeral Home to assist the family with burial expenses.
