Dorothy Vidrine Palermo

January 26, 1931 — March 7, 2016

Dorothy Lee Vidrine Palermo, 85, died peacefully at Lake Area Medical Center on  Monday, March 7. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Nabours and husband Carl, Teri Broussard and husband Gerald; daughter-in-law, Adele Palermo Hamer and husband Douglas, as well as her special niece, Paula Robinson Myers. She is now rejoicing in heaven with her son Ronny Palermo, who died 33 years ago, and her loving husband of sixty three years, Joe, who died just one month ago.

Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Karli Nabours-Palermo, Chelsi Nabours Barfield, husband Robert and son Finn; Ali Nabours; Amy Palermo Miller, husband Lee and sons Charlie and Wynn; Jessica Broussard Lowery, husband Israel and children Griffin, Olivia and soon-to-arrive Cecilia; Taylor Broussard and fiancé Kristin Wright; and Morgan Broussard. She laughed in delight every time one of her children or grandchildren called or stopped by for a visit. She loved to serve her family and friends, and her home was a gathering place for coffee, wonderful spaghetti meals and countless joyous occasions. Her zebra cookies, chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies and strawberry pies were family favorites.

Dorothy attended Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and was a longtime member of the Altar Society. She was also one of Msgr. Irving DeBlanc’s “Marthas”, a group of ladies who volunteered to help keep his home sparkling clean. She loved traveling throughout the United States and Europe with her husband Joe, and she was always “ready to go!” shopping or on a trip.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 09, 2016 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Monsignor Harry Greig will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and will continue Wednesday at 10:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Lady Queen of Heaven School’s Cornerstone Capital Campaign.
