Doyle Edward Richards

Doyle Edward Richards, 75, of Topsy died at 9:48 AM on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 in a Sulphur hospital. Mr. Richards was born on June 8, 1939 in Henderson, TX. He served in the U.S. Army as an E5 in the 516th Engineering Company. He was stationed in Hanau, Germany where he met his wife. They moved to Lake Charles in 1963 where they lived until moving to Topsy 12 years ago. Mr. Richards worked at Boyce Machinery for 23 years where he became a supervisor. He retired in 2004 as a mechanic from Ensco Drilling. He enjoyed drag racing with his sons and going on camping trips with his family. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Anna Richards; four sons and their wives, Dale Richards and Laura of Moss Bluff, James Richards and Kay of Moss Bluff, Patrick Richards and Cynthia of Lafayette, and Timothy Richards and Carol of Moss Bluff; four siblings, Ronald and Donald Richards, Joyce Picard, and Gail Corkran; and nine grandchildren, Matthew, Jason, Taylor, Marshall, Hayley, Dillon, Trey, Kayleigh, and Caden Richards. He was preceded in death by his parents, Voneata and James Richards. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 5, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Scott DesOrmeaux will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service. Pallbearers will be: Matthew, Jason, Taylor, Marshall, Trey, Dillon, and Ronnie Richards, and Brian and Rod Picard.
