Dr. Charles Thomas White

Dr. Charles T. White, 84, passed away at 12:34 PM, Thursday, May 12, 2016 surrounded by his family.

 

Dr. White was a native and lifelong resident of Lake Charles and served as a practicing physician for fifty-three years. He was a 1949 graduate of Lake Charles High School, 1953 graduate of McNeese State College, and a 1957 graduate of Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. Dr. White served his internship at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans. He served in the Calcasieu Medical Society and was past President of the Medical Staff at St. Patrick Hospital and served as Medical Staff President at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. While at McNeese, Dr. White was member of the ROTC. After graduation Dr. White served in the U.S. Army as a Captain and Flight Surgeon, while stationed at Ft. Huachuca, AZ. Dr. White served as Coroner of Calcasieu Parish from 1964 until 1972 and was also a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

 

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dona C. Braud White; daughter, Andrea M. White and spouse Leah; sons, Paul T. White and wife Marianne, Henry B. White III and wife Peggy, Felix “Joe” White, Tom White and wife Phyllis all of Lake Charles, and George M. White of Albuquerque, NM; 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; his daughter-in-law, Lavonne “Cookie” White. Dr. White is preceded in death by his son, Charles D. White, M.D.; his parents, Dr. Henry Bascom White and Natalie Vallot White; sister, Dorothy Ann Rosteet; and brothers, Henry B. White, M.D. and Jimmy W. White.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, May 16, 2016 at The Cathedral of Immaculate Conception. Reverend Rommel Tolentino will be the Celebrant, assisted by Monsignor Harry Grieg and Monsignor Charles Dubois. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation in the funeral home will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Sunday, with a Rosary being recited at 6:00 PM, by Monsignor Vincent Sedita. Visitation will continue from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM, Monday, in the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Ms. Vanessa Batiste for the devotion and loving care of Dr. White.
