Dr. Lionel Louis "Poochie" de la Houssaye, 73, died Sunday, December 22, in M. D. Anderson Hospital, in the arms of his loving wife of fifty-one years, ZiZi. Dr. de la Houssaye was born in Crowley and graduated from Crowley High School. He also graduated in pre-dental from Louisiana State University before graduating from Loyola School of Dentistry in New Orleans. He served his residence at Confederate Memorial Hospital in Shreveport. Dr. de la Houssaye also served his country as a Captain in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. He began the his practice in oral surgery in Lake Charles in 1971 before retiring in 2012. He is survived by his wife, Marie Louise Ogden "ZiZi" de la Houssaye of Lake Charles; two sons, Dr. Lionel L. de la Houssaye, Jr. and his wife Geri of Thibodeaux and Jean Paul Peletier de la Houssaye of Tampa, FL; one daughter Marie Louise de la Houssaye Civita and her husband Francesco of Sao Paulo, Brazil; grandchildren, Anneliose and Louis de la Houssaye, Max, Nicco, and Luisa Civita; one brother, Dr. Benton Cason de la Houssaye of Crowley. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, December 27, 2013 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor Harry Greig and Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Graveside services will be at 3:30 PM in the family mausoleum at Lakelawn Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4:00 Pm until 8:00 PM on Thursday and from 8:00 AM until 9:40 AM on Friday.
