Dr. Richard "Rocky" Henry Kent

Richard “Rocky” Henry Kent, MD, 68, of Lake Charles died at 8:53 PM on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 in a local hospital.

Dr. Kent was born on November 24, 1947 in Schenectady, NY.  He was raised in New York and also had lived in Florida before moving to Louisiana to attend medical school.  He received his undergraduate degree from Duke University before graduating medical school from Tulane University.  Dr. Kent practiced allergy immunology for over 35 years in Lake Charles and was well known in the community.  He belonged to the American Medical Association and the Calcasieu Parish Medical Society and was very active in the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA). 

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was attracted to Louisiana, “Sportsman’s Paradise”.  He will be remembered as being a loving father and will be missed dearly.

Those left to cherish his memory are two sons, Richard Henry Kent, II and Andrew Drost Kent both of Lake Charles; and the mother of his children, Gaye Drost Kent also of Lake Charles.

Visitation will begin on Monday, November 21, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in Johnson Funeral Home.  Burial will be held in Mountain View Cemetery in Brooklyn, PA at a later date.
