Drew Michael Cormier

Drew Michael Cormier, 37, of Lubbock, TX, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 in a Lubbock, TX hospital.

Drew was born January 31, 1986 in Lake Charles, LA.  He attended College Oaks, F. K. White Middle School and LaGrange High School.  When he was younger, he enjoyed participating in the T-Ball Challenger League and therapeutic horse rides.  In his younger years, while living in Lake Charles, Drew participated in the Special Needs Mass, serving as a lector several times, and reading Sacred Scripture to the congregation.  Drew also loved drawing, playing video games, and mailing letters.  He will always be remembered for his funny personality and loving soul and he never met a stranger.  Drew had autism, he was very special and deeply loved by those who knew him.  He taught those in his life to see things in his unique way through his eyes.

Drew is survived by his parents, Harold “Bear” and Shari Chaisson Cormier, of Pineville, LA; brother, Jordan Ryan Cormier of China; half-sister, Wendy Arnaud and her son, Marko of Eunice, LA; aunts and uncle, Larry and Susan Chaisson and Betty Fonenot; and close cousins, Joseph and Seth Chaisson, and Kristy Sullivan (Brian), and her children, and Kiley, Patrick and Kaytlin Keck.  He is also survived by his cousins, Callie and James Schoest, their sons, Logan, Lex, and Liam of Eunice; and cousins, Tiffany and Bill Ray, their son, Kade Blanchard of Eunice.  His cousins were always very kind and inclusive of Drew, especially at family gatherings.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry and Betty Chaisson, Joseph Ophie Cormier, and Berline Thompson; uncles, Joseph Raphael Cormier and Apton Cormier; and aunt, Jackie Blanchard.

His memorial mass will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.  Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate.  A private burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens.  A gathering of family and friends will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a rosary at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will continue on Thursday at the church from 1:00 PM until the start of the service.
