Dua J. "Duke" Trahan, Jr., 70, of Vinton, LA, died at 1:59 AM on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in a Beaumont, TX hospital. His memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Crossroads Baptist Church. Rev. Rob Tibbitts will officiate. Mr. Trahan was born September 5, 1943 in Kaplan, LA and was a 1961 graduate of Kaplan High School. He attended USL in Lafayette, LA for two years, Immaculate Seminary in Lafayette and St. John Seminary. He worked for Livingston Ship Building in Orange, TX for three years and for Kroger's in Orange for thirty-one years, retiring in 2008. He served as the Union Stewart and member of the Executive Board for the UFCW for a number of years. He also worked for Tower Land Company in Lake Charles for four years. Mr. Trahan was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and previously served as the youth minister at St. Joseph Catholic Church for a number of years. During his younger years, he could often be found coaching softball for his children's teams. He enjoyed traveling and loved to relax and watch TV. Mr. Trahan is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Judy L. Trahan of Vinton, LA; daughter, Dayne Culpepper and husband Douglas of Port Neches, TX; sons, David Trahan and wife Lainie, Jeremy Trahan and wife Ashley, and Jordan Trahan and wife Michell, all of Vinton, LA; sisters, Velta Darby and husband Thomas of Abbeville, LA, Mae Rose Dartez of Kaplan, LA, Judy Trahan and husband Rusty of Abbeville, LA, Betty Grant of Charlotte, NC, Charlene Lange and husband Joseph of Erath, LA, and Elaine Trahan of Lafayette, LA; brothers-in-law, Benny Lemaire of Kaplan, LA, Tommy Lemaire and wife Marcia of Rosepine, LA, Jason Lemaire and wife JaNeice of Hector, AR, Rickey Lemaire and wife Donna of Kaplan, Kenneth Lemaire and wife Daphne of Kaplan, Brian Lemaire and wife Becky of Kaplan; sisters-in-law, Rachel Tupper and husband Toby of Nunez, LA and Madeline Dubois and husband Brian of Kaplan; an extended family at Crossroads Baptist Church; sixteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lovenia and Dua Trahan, Sr.; brother, Rodney Trahan; brother-in-law, Marvin Dartez; and mother-in-law, Lilly F. Lemaire. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the prayer teams that provided spiritual support and comfort during this time.
