Duford James Henry, 68, Of Lake Charles passed away at 8:05 AM, Monday, January 9, 2012 in a local hospital.
He was a native of Midland, LA and lived in Lake Charles most of his life. Mr. Henry was a graduate of Midland High School, the University of Southwestern Louisiana now the University of Louisiana in Lafayette (ULL), the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and earned his CPA in 1969. He was a member of AICPA, the Louisiana Society of CPA's, the Kiwanis Club of South Lake Charles, the McNeese Cowboy Club, and Contraband Days Inc. serving on the Board of Directors for many years. Mr. Henry served as an Instructor of Accounting at McNeese from 1967-1984, and practiced as a CPA from 1986-2010. He taught Seminars with the ITSI (Income Tax School Incorporated) in Southern States under Van Yaryan in 1990. Mr. Henry and his wife were avid McNeese Football and Basketball fans.
He is survived by his wife Vida Broussard Henry; his children, Shawn Henry and wife Whitney, Barry Henry and wife Stephie, Bryan Henry and wife Melisa, and James and Nadine Dickerson; grandchildren, Michael, Ryan, Peyton, Joshua, Grant, Luke, Sarah, and Cooper Henry, Trey Mazza, Meghin, John, and Lauren Dickerson; mother-in-law, Irene Smith; two brothers, Ray Lee Myers and Willard Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Bernadette Henry and sister Rena Newman.
His Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Reverend Alan Trouille will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Wednesday with a rosary at 6:30 PM and continue from 9:00 AM until 1:30 PM, Thursday in the funeral home.
