Duplice Roy East

August 6, 1948 — March 21, 2012

Roy East, 63 of Sulphur, passed away on March 21, 2012 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Robison Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Johnny Mounce officiating. Burial will be in New Hackberry Cemetery in Hackberry, LA. under the direction of Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 23, 2012 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. and will resume on Saturday at 9 a.m. until time of service. Roy was a native of Hackberry and a longtime Sulphur resident. After high school he had a lifetime career in tow boat piloting, retiring from Imgram Barge Towing Company after 35 years. He was a member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. Roy is survived by his daughter, Tharesa Keeley and husband, Bill of Gonzales, LA; son, Douglas East of Sulphur; two brothers, Norris East and Vickie of Hackberry, and Morris East and wife, Becky of Baton Rouge; five sisters, Florence Carroll and husband, Larry of Sulphur, Rose Mae Clostio of Carlyss, Irene Kershaw of Hackberry, Lena Mae East and Ella Mary Douget both of Sulphur; two grandchildren, Breandan and Colin Keeley of Gonzales. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philo and Alicia East, three brothers and two sisters.
