Durelle J. Boots Fontenot

Durelle J. "Boots" Fontenot passed away June 4, 2011 in Baton Rouge, LA at the age of 96.

He was born in Oberlin, LA on January 8, 1915. He graduated from Bell City High School. He was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout in Lake Charles, LA. He retired from Gulf Oil Co. in 1976 while living in Buras, LA and then returned to Hayes, LA to live.

Boots over the years was a deacon at First Baptist Church in Vinton, LA., Buras-Triumph Baptist Church and Hayes Baptist Church. Boots was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Georgia Delaney Fontenot, brother Curtis D. Fontenot, sister Juanita F. May. He is survived by two children, Peggy F. Cappiello and husband Ralph of Baton Rouge, LA and Kathleen F. Collins and husband Robert of Spring, TX. Boots is also survived by one sister, Christine F. Dionne of Nederland, TX and one brother, T.J. Fontenot of Gueydan, LA, three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held at Johnson Funeral in Lake Charles at 11:00 A.M. with visitation from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. Reverend Ernest Walker will officiate. Interment will be at Hayes Cemetery.
