Durphy Allen Esthay

Durphy Allen Esthay, 87, of Lake Charles, passed away on Sunday December 17, 2023.

Durphy was a native of Evangeline and a longtime resident of Lake Charles. He honorably and faithfully served our country in the United States Army and was an active member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, where he served as a Knight of Columbus.

Preceding Durphy in death are his beloved wife, Lillian Landry Esthay; parents, Oscar and Empress Thibodeaux Esthay; siblings Esther Esthay Mere, Melvin Esthay, Myrl Jane Esthay, Roland Esthay, Carrie Esthay LeBlanc, and Marjorie Esthay Noel.

He leaves to honor and cherish his memory two brothers, Terry Esthay and wife Bessie, Lake Charles and Wilbert Esthay and wife Jenny, Jennings; although he had no children, he leaves many special nieces and nephews, which he considered children of the heart, a special niece Doris Mere Voussine, special friend at heart, Shannon Fuselier and cousins and extended family of the heart.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM on Thursday December 21, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Home. A rosary led by the Knights of Columbus, will begin at 12:30 PM. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM with Deacon Anthony Pousson will officiating services. Burial, with United States Military Honors, will follow at Consolata Cemetery.
