Dwayne A. Melancon

Dwayne Anthony Melancon, 62, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2023 in a local hospice facility. He was born on March 24, 1961, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Carroll and Rachel Himel Melancon.

Dwayne had a giving spirt and never hesitated to reach out to those in need. Dwayne never met a stranger. He loved his family and loved spending time with them. He was forever proud of his daughter, touting her as "his greatest accomplishment.”

Dwayne's passions included deer hunting, fishing, and cooking. He seized every opportunity to cook for his family and took great pride in doing so. 

He loved his canine companion, Lilly. She was very dear to him and brought him much joy.

Dwayne was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but above all else, he had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and brave and will be terribly missed by his loved ones. 

Those left to cherish his memory are, his father, Carroll Melancon; his daughter, Stephanie Melancon; and his brother, Brian Melancon. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rachel Melancon.

His funeral service will be at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, September 9, 2023 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, located at 4321 Lake Street, Lake Charles, LA.  Msgr. Jace Eskind will serve as Celebrant.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service at 12:00 Noon. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
