E. Theresa Gaisser, 82, of Lake Charles, LA died at 6:00 PM on Saturday, January 15, 2011 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Gaisser was born July 13, 1928 in Lake Charles, LA. She was a graduate of St. Charles Academy and also a graduate of Sowela Technical Institute with an Associate's Degree in Business. She lived in Lake Charles most of her life and Houston, TX from 1993 to 2007. Mrs. Gaisser worked for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office prior to starting her family. She later worked for Dr. John Moffett's office for twenty-five years as the office manager. After her retirement, she worked for Baylor College of Medicine in Houston for ten years as an administrative clerk. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Houston, the Revival Center, Abundant Life Fellowship, and Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Lake Charles. Mrs. Gassier enjoyed sewing, dancing, playing golf, but most importantly, bowling. She will always be remembered as a God loving woman and mother, who saw the good in everyone. Her ministry was love; her eyes and smile brought the morning sunshine and her tears brought the rain. Everyone who knew her, loved her.
Mrs. Gaisser is survived by her daughters, Sherry C. Hudson-Carley and husband David of Houston, TX, Minnie Dupin and husband Sid of Lake Charles, and Saline Gaisser of Sulphur, LA; sons, John Michael Carney and wife Debbie, Ernest James Carney and wife Shannon, and Donald Jeff Carney and wife Joni, all of Houston, TX; step-son, Payton Woodrow Carney, Jr. and wife Virginia of Tallulah, LA; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and best-friends, Bertha Jean Donaldson and Eloise Stein.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Payton W. Carney and Charles Edward Gaisser; parents, Ernest Julius and Minnie Pearl Reeves; brother, Ernest Jay Reeves; and step-daughter, Marguerite King.
Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Louis Jackson will officiate. Burial will follow in Sallier Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
