William Earl Guthrie, Jr., 63, of Cameron, LA passed away Friday, June 02, 2017.
Earl was born in Lake Charles and was a lifelong resident of Cameron. He was a graduate of South Cameron High School where he was an All Star athlete. He attended four years at McNeese State University where he studied Kinesiology. Cattle ranching has been his life. Following in his grandfathers’ footsteps of Cattle ranching in Ragley and Cameron, he has handed down his love and legacy to his grandson, Will. Some of his greatest times were spent with his grandchildren; cheering Will on at the rodeo and Meg on the softball field. Earl was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and entertaining at his camp. He was also an avid sports fan of LSU Tigers, Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astro’s. Earl will be remembered for his gift of sarcasm and the daily multiple phone calls to Kathy and Kassie about absolutely nothing. His love, generosity and devotion to family and friends was endless.
He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of forty three years, Kathleen ”Kathy” Landry Guthrie; one daughter, Kassie Guthrie Boudreaux and husband J.R.; two grandchildren, Will Austen Boudreaux and Meg Olivia Boudreaux and grand dog, Sophie, all of Cameron; one brother, James Austin “Jamey” Guthrie and wife Jody of Moss Bluff; step-mother, Judy Butts Guthrie of Lake Charles and step-father, Dr. Francis Bride of Lake Charles; nieces and nephews, Bill, Max, Austin, Mary Ann and Lee Ann Guthrie and Steven and Chase Landry; aunt, Peggy Blankenship of Beaufort, NC and uncle, Bobby Guthrie of Phoenix, AZ.
He also leaves his extended family, Norma Jean Blake, Charla Jo Blake and Bertie Pinch and his right hand man, “T-Boy” Benoit of Ragley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Earl Guthrie, Sr. and Wilma Davis Guthrie Bride; “adopted” father, Braxton Blake and “son” at heart, Derek Thibodeaux.
