Early Ramoin

August 23, 1923 — November 21, 2012

Early Ramoin August 23, 1923November 21, 2012. Early, a real Cajun man, was born in Mowata (Branch), Louisiana to Homer and Eve (Lejeune) Ramoin. He was raised by his parents and his grandfather, Victor Ramoin, who lived in their home and was a close companion to Early through his young years. Early loved to tell the stories his grandfather passed on to him. Early had a keen memory and into late life he still had a passion for sharing those stories about the Ramoin family's origin and history.

Early met the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Ruby (Guidry) Ramoin at a school dance and as Early often said with a twinkle in his eye, that struck a cord that lasted a lifetime they became inseparable and were married 69 years. Early joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in October 1942 and served during WWII. He married Ruby on furlough November 15, 1943 and were united until the passing of his beloved wife just 9 hours before his own death. He was stationed at various military bases across the U.S. and was a Morris code expert, trained military dogs, and was a driver in the commanding officer's motor pool. Early was a PFC and was up for promotion to sergeant but the war was winding down and he was discharged in 1946.

In 1949, they bought their first home in Sulphur, Louisiana, and later built their dream home in Carlyss. Early always worked hard to provide for his family specializing in pipefitting at Cities Service refinery for over 30 years. Early lived a simple life that was fulfilling to him. His property was his favorite place on earth and was evident he had a green thumb. He was proud of the magnificent pecan, fruit, and oak trees that he planted and he often whistled as he drove his tractor while working his land. He was member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Early is survived by their 4 children: Henrietta Henri (Van) Rembert, Jolene Ramoin (Dale Wood), Kenneth (Cathy) Ramoin, and Gerald (Carolee) Ramoin; 9 grandchildren: Jade (Joyce) Rembert, Lonny (Suzanne) Wearin, Roxanne (Dana) Platt, Lauren (Thomas) Morgan, Joshua Ramoin, Holton Ramoin, Guidry Ramoin, Isabella Ramoin, and Juliana Ramoin. 6 great grandchildren: Alana Rembert, Braden Platt, Zachary Wearin, Bennett Platt, Lucas Morgan, and Thomas Wearin. He is also survived by his youngest brother, John (Betty) Ramoin.

Early, known as the oak, provided deep roots to his family in that he was mighty in his principles, dedicated to his faith, tenacious about his work, and steadfast in his love for his wife and children. Our Dad will always be loved and deeply missed but generations to come will be blessed with the values, integrity, and love that he taught the Ramoin family!

Our family deeply appreciates the love and the depth of care given to him by Southern Care Hospice and Emeritus. Memorial donations can be made to Meals-on-Wheels.
