Eddie Dean Veillon, Sr., 62, of Lake Charles died at 6:35 AM on Monday, February 14, 2011 in a local hospital.
Mr. Veillon was born on July 5, 1948 in Jennings, LA and lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He served in the U.S. Marines and was a Vietnam Veteran. Mr. Veillon was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion, W.B. Williamson Post #1 and belonged to St. Margaret Catholic Church.
He enjoyed life and had a love for many things including, motorcycles, wrestling, Cajun French music, visiting with friends and family, and his pet dogs and cats. But most of all, he loved his family which he expressed in his motto "my family comes first." Mr. Veillon was creative and could turn anything into a project and make it something useful.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Darlene Veillon of Lake Charles; four children, Eddie Veillon, Jr. and wife Carol and Missy Veillon all of Ragley, and Anne and Monica Veillon both of Lake Charles; two step sons, Tony Gibbs and Chris Gibbs and wife Tiffany all of Lake Charles; one sister, Dot Davidson and husband Chuck of Arizona; his twin brother, Edward Veillon of Lake Charles; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Ella Bertrand of Crowley; and two grandchildren, Kristian Veillon and Devin Richards.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice and Dudley Veillon.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. The Rev. Alan Trouille will officiate. Burial will be in Maxie Cemetery in Maxie, LA under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 7:00 PM and an American Legion memorial service to follow. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM in the funeral home.
