Eddie Jean-Luc Patrick Newsome, 68, of Westlake peacefully passed away at 5:39 AM on Sunday, May 5, 2024 in a local hospice facility.
Born on December 21, 1955 in Barbezieux, France, Eddie spent his early years traversing the globe with his military family before settling in the United States at the age of two. He graduated from Barbe High School and established his home in Westlake in 1979, where he remained devoted to his community and family for the rest of his life.
Eddie dedicated 42 years of his life to Olin, retiring under the name Bio Lab. His tireless work ethic was driven by his deep love and commitment to his family, whom he cherished above all else.
Known for his generous spirit, Eddie volunteered with the United Way and tirelessly organized benefits for colleagues in need. Beyond his professional life, he had a myriad of interests, including collecting PEZ dispensers, Jack Daniels paraphernalia, coins, and McDonald’s Happy Meal toys. He was also an avid bird enthusiast and a proud supporter of the Dallas Cowboys.
He enjoyed drinking coffee with his beautiful wife and kids, he loved politics, a good movie, John Wayne, Steven Segal, and John Wick to name a few! His coworkers were like a second family to him. He could grow and regrow anything he touched, it would flourish! He loved the holidays, especially decorating his house outside, He is known for having the best lit yard during Christmas for over 20 plus years at his home in Westlake! He couldn’t wait to see Trump elected again!
However, Eddie’s greatest joy came from spending time with his beloved family, creating cherished memories that will be forever treasured.
Eddie Jean-Luc Patrick Newsome leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 44 years, Georgia Newsome of Westlake; his children, Matthew Newsome of Westlake, Stephanie Matteson of Westlake, Johnathan Newsome (Celeste) of Sulphur, Michael Newsome of Moss Bluff, Timothy Newsome of Westlake, and Melanie Duplechin (Rhett) of Westlake; his mother, Nicole Newsome of Lake Charles; siblings, Scott Newsome (Wanda) of Overland Park, KS and Melissa Broussard (Rick) of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Clint Matteson and Baylor Duplechin; and his loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Homer Newsome and a sister, Patricia Rawson.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 in Johnson Funeral Home chapel. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 1:00 PM and continue until the start of the service.
