Eddie Mae Faulk

Our Heavenly Father called Eddie Mae Faulk home, after a short illness, on December 20th, 2011. Awaiting her arrival in His Kingdom, her beloved husband, John "Johnnie" A. Faulk, and her parents, Eddie and Lora Mae Ammons.

Born in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, Eddie Mae married Johnnie, March 24th, 1945. Eddie Mae and Johnnie eventually settled in the Grand Lake area in 1961. Eddie Mae and Johnnie lead a simple and wholesome life, raising four children, Sammie, Becky, Kay, and Edie Katrina. Eddie Mae and her children remained a tight knit and loving family; on any given Sunday, Eddie Mae and Johnnie would host a supper for their children's families that eventually included eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and all the friends that family members cared to bring; everyone was welcome. Eddie Mae was loved by all those that came to know her, and became everyone's "Nannie."

During her life, Eddie Mae was an active member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters. She also participated in the Sweet Lake Home Makers Club for over 30 years. For 15 years Eddie Mae was employed as a receptionist for Lake Charles Medical and Surgical Clinic. Eddie Mae was also very proud to have been recently recognized as an Avon Lady for over 50 years.

While Eddie Mae and her beloved Johnnie led a fairly simple life, the two did get out to see many parts of the country, as Johnnie spent time touring as the bass player with the Hackberry Ramblers. Noteworthy destinations for Eddie Mae and Johnnie included a trip to the Grammy Awards in 1998, a performance at The Grand Ole Opry in 1999, and a tour in France in 2002.

Eddie Mae is survived by her one son, Sammie Faulk and wife Pat of Grand Lake, Becky Nunez and husband Dennis of Grand Lake, Kay Maxwell of Grapevine, Texas, and Edie Derouen and husband Bryon of Lake Charles; grandchildren Tara Derouen and husband Brad, Andrea Furman and husband Todd, Russel Faulk, Nicholas Nunez and wife Heather, Chase Nunez and wife Ashley, Tyler Maxwell, Paige Doucet, Brett, Taylor, Hannah, and Olivia Derouen; great grandchildren Trey and Lakeyn Duhon, Jillian and Blair Derouen, Madelyn, Reese, and Vivian Furman, Kamerie, Brayley, Quentin, and Kennedie Nunez, Brayson Nunez, and Lucy Smith. Eddie Mae is also survived by one sister, Mary Lois Peterson of Port St. Joe, Florida, one brother-in-law, Morgan "Black" Faulk and wife Melba of Grand Lake and their extended family.

Services will be at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 27th, from 3:00 to 9:00 pm, with a rosary at 7:00 pm and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service. Funeral will be Wednesday, December 28th, at 2:00 pm, with Father Wayne LeBleu officiating, followed by a graveside service at Big Lake Cemetery.
