Eddie “Boz” Richard, 86, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 4:55 PM on Saturday, December 19, 2020 in a local hospital.
Mr. Richard was born April 7, 1934 in Sulphur, LA, where he was raised. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1956-1958. He worked in Sales all his life retiring from Borden’s in 1987 after more than 16 years. He was a very active member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, where he was on the money counting committee, served as a Eucharistic minister, was on the Altar Society and volunteered helping with funeral masses at the church. Mr. Richard was also a member of the Knights of Columbus #3208, where he was named “Knight of the Year” for 2008-2009, and the American Legion Post #1. He was always giving of himself to his church, his family, and his community. He also enjoyed volunteering for Abraham’s tent and for the Oak Park Food Pantry and helped with Bingo for the American Legion at the VA home in Jennings and at Chennault. He enjoyed camping, loved spending time outdoors at his camp or fixing things around his property and was known for his great jambalaya at the CalcaChew Food Festival.
Mr. Richard is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Nelwin LaCasse Richard of Lake Charles; son, Vaughn Richard and wife Romona of Holmwood; daughters, Gwen Dugas and husband Larry, Jackie Armentor and husband Keith, and Deleen Boudreaux and husband Joe, all of Lake Charles; sisters, Aline Clouthier of SC and Helen Faye Domingue and husband Calvin of Sulphur; grandchildren, Jessica Pousson, Nicholas Richard, Kyle Richard, Amanda Rash, Ashley Dugas, Jacob Dugas, Chad Armentor, Todd Armentor, Chance Boudreaux, and Carley Boudreaux; and ten great-grandchildren. “Uncle Boz” or “Boz”, as he was known, will be missed dearly by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elise and Evelina O’Quain Richard; brothers, Philip Richard, Freddie Richard and Lawrence Richard; and his in-laws, John and Ludie LaCasse.
His funeral service will be held 1:00 PM on Wednesday December 23, 2020 at St. Margaret Catholic Church, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Father Sam Orsot will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Lake City Baptist Church, 3940 Holly Hill Rd, Lake Charles, LA 70605, on Wednesday from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM with a rosary at noon.
