Edine Fontenot, 89, of Lake Charles passed away at 10:11 AM on Monday, August 3, 2015 in a local care facility. Mrs. Fontenot was born on May 11, 1926 in Mamou, LA and moved to Lake Charles in 1959. She was an LPN having worked for Lake Charles Memorial Hospital and retiring from Rosewood Nursing Home. Mrs. Fontenot was a long time member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. She and her husband had a passion for playing, and listening to Cajun French music. She will always be remembered for her skills in cooking and baking. Mrs. Fontenot often brought her grandchildren hunting, fishing, and on adventurous camping trips. She cherished her family and always made time to visit relatives and keep in touch. Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Glenda Rawlinson McGuire (Lloyd) of Westlake; four grandsons, Craig Rawlinson of Apopka, FL, Keith Rawlinson of Jacksonville, FL, Kelly Rawlinson of Lafayette, and Mark Rawlinson of Plaquemine, LA; ten great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a niece, Barbara James of Mamou. She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her child, Lee Cam Fontenot; second husband, Floyd Fontenot; a son, Derel Dewayne Fontenot; her parents, Evelyn and Octave Morein; and three sisters. A funeral mass will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. The Rev. Jay Alexius will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Friday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 8:00 AM until leaving for the church at 12:00 noon.
