Edith Allie Lea Avery, 83 passed away on August 2, 2015 in her residence surrounded by her family. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Sulphur. Edith enjoyed making quilts, embroidering, reading, fishing, and crossword puzzles. Edith is survived by her three daughters, Melissa Ann Miller and husband Darrell of Sulphur, Linda Frey and husband John, and Ellen Jane LeDoux and husband Tophile all of Carlyss; her step-son, Gerald Bouton of Jasper, TX; 7 grandchildren, William Miller-Roberts, Shannon LeDoux, Shawn Moody, Darrell Miller, Jr., Chelsea Hyatt, Devon LeDoux, Joshua Frey; and 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Fannie Mae Verdine; her husband, Bert Thurman Avery; 2 sisters, Polly Buxton, Stella Bergeron, and 3 brothers, Billy Verdine, Beau Verdine and LeRoy Verdine. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 11 A.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Arvin Harrell officiating. Burial will be in Doyle Cemetery in Starks under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 from 4-9 P.M. at the funeral home with visitation continuing on Wednesday at 8 A.M. until time of the service.
