Edith Braswell Barlow, 68, of Lake Charles, LA died at 7:20 AM on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 in a local hospital. Mrs. Barlow was born November 28, 1945 in Wisner, LA and lived in Lake Charles for the past thirty years. She worked as a Christian educator for over nineteen years, teaching in Wisner, LA and Lake Charles Christian School. She was a very active member of Livingway Pentecostal Church. She loved God, her family and her church. Mrs. Barlow is survived by her son, Willie Ray Barlow and wife Bridget of Crowley; daughter, Joannie Rae Barlow of Lake Charles; grandson, Brock Barlow; brothers, John Braswell and companion Betty Crosby, of St. Francesville, LA and Austin Braswell and wife Evelyn of Mississippi; sisters, Mamie Bamburg and husband Coleman of Newlton, LA and Margaret Earls and husband J.W. of Winnsboro, LA; and special family members, Kevin and Rebecca Stockman and their children, Douglas and Brayden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar "Ed" Ray Barlow. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Livingway Pentecostal Church, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Glenn Massey and Rev. C. R. Nugent will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
