Edith C. Stewart

Edith Carr Stewart, 87, returned home on March 8, 2014. She was born on October 15, 1926 in Calera, OK before moving to Grand Chenier where she attended the Grand Chenier Methodist Church. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, reading, and taking care of her home and family. She was Nana to many children and loved taking care of them. She is survived by her four children, Edward Stewart and wife Susie of Carlyss, LA Lisa Stewart and Leann Stewart of Cameron, LA and Kay Miller and husband Mike of Westlake; Grandchildren Lyndi Stewart Clint Stewart Krissy Morris and Kade Pierson; great grandchildren Melanie Pierson and Elliot Morris; one sister Ocaneta Blatt of Grand Junction, CO; Extended family the Rutherfords, Jerome Myra, Terry, Debbie, Eric, Kevin, Jordan, Valari, Kayla, Chandler and Makenna; and also the daughters of her heart Recia Willis and Kim Murphy. She was preceded in death by her husband Gayle "Gayboy" Stewart. Her parents Solon and Ethel Carr and her grandson Kannon Guilbeau. Funeral services are at 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday, March 10, 2014 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Tuesday at 8:00 AM until time of services. Burial will be at McCall Cemetery in Grand Chenier, LA. Reverend Betty Northen will officiate services.
