Edith Marie Harrington Lyons, 90, of Lake Charles died at 6:35 AM on Monday, May 07, 2012 in her residence.
Mrs. Lyons was born on December 18, 1921 in Kaplan, LA and lived in Lake Charles for the past 66 years. She worked many years as a volunteer for St. Margaret Catholic Church where she belonged to the Ladies Altar Society. Mrs. Lyons was currently a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.
She was an exceptional seamstress and a great cook.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Charlie Lyons; five children, Birdie Mallett and husband Jimmie, Duford Harrington, Joyce Harrington, Ronald Harrington and wife Wanda, and Donald Harrington and wife Candy all of Lake Charles; a sister, Viola Sullivan and husband Donald of Crowley; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arnold Harrington; a grandson, Darrell McCown; a great grandson, Darrell McCown, II; two brothers, Gilbert and Leaman Abshire; and three infant siblings.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. The Rev. Keith Pellerin will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
