Edith Marie Viator, 95, died Sunday October 28, 2012 at a local care facility.
A native of Hackberry, Louisiana she was born August 16, 1917 to Noah and Sophie Hebert. She lived in Sulphur for 49 years before moving to Lake Charles in 1979. Edith was Catholic by faith and a member of the Catholic Daughters, having attained the CDA Court 1785 on October 3, 1989. She served as one of the court's grandmothers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Clifford (C.J.) Hebert and Leon (L.M.) Hebert, and a sister, Anna Mae Sears. Those left to honor and cherish her memory are two sons, Terry Viator and wife Paula, and L.J. Bud Viator, both of Lake Charles; three daughters, Eva Lois Batchelor, Lake Charles; Jean Stiehl, Indianapolis, IN and Sherry Allen, Sulphur; one sister, Loviner Nelson, Bay City, TX; fifteen grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Her Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, in the funeral home with a Rosary by the Catholic Daughters at 6:00 PM. and continue Wednesday from 9:00 AM until 12:30 PM.
Serving as Pallbearers will be, Gerald Link, David Nelson, Douglas Nelson, Dorrance Montieth, Emery Broussard, and Coleman Nave.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of Resthaven Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent and special care given to our mother for the past four years.
