Edith O. Sonnier

Edith Owens Sonnier, 83, of Lake Charles, died Saturday May 6, 2017 at a Katy, Texas hospital.

 

Edith was a native of Rayne and a long-time resident of Lake Charles, having just moved to Katy, Texas less than a year ago to be closer to her family. She was retired from Conoco in 1985 and was a faithful member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, where she served in the Catholic Daughter’s Association, Altar Society and choir.

 

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Ovignac and Nola Domingue Owens; beloved husband of 40 years, Wincie J. Sonnier; daughter, Lisa Sonnier. She leaves to honor and cherish her memory her daughter, Susan Sonnier Jordan (John), Katy, Texas; two grandsons, Stuart Jordan (Elizabeth) and Andrew Jordan (Chiffon); one great grandson, Everett Jordan and one great granddaughter Baby Girl Jordan; two brothers, Clyde Owens, Katy and Clifton Owens, Crowley and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

 

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday May 10, with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation continues from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM Thursday, all at Johnson Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be observed at 11:00 AM on Thursday May 11, 2017 at St. Margaret Catholic Church with Father Aubrey Guilbeau serving as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery.
