Edith Phillips

Edith Kay Schiele Phillips, 54, of Grand Lake, LA, died at 5:30 PM on Saturday, September 30, 2017 in a local care facility.

Ms. Phillips was born January 16, 1963 in Marks, MS and raised in Groveton, TX, where she was a 1981 graduate of Groveton High School. She has resided in Lake Charles since 2004. Ms. Phillips enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time at the casino, but her true passion was for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed listening to old country music and dancing.

Ms. Phillips is survived by her children, Destini Bonin and husband Justin and James Phillips, all of Grand Lake; sisters, Monica Hester and husband Charlie of Weldon, TX and Joyce Champion and husband Donnie of Coden, AL; sister-in-law, Tina Schiele; grandchildren, Bella and Cason Bonin and one on-the-way; nephews, James Schiele, III and Spencer Schiele; nieces, Tiffany Carpenter, Kacey Hester, Ashley Williams and Lori Embery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Edward Schiele, Sr. and Deloris McMillan Schiele; brother, James Schiele; and nephew David Allen Hester.

Her cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
